Both. We allow both married and non-married contestants.
I have been a contestant in this pageant for 5 years, although I did have to withdraw due to health reasons one year. I had no pageant experience prior to competing in the Mrs. Washington organization, and really had no clue what to expect. My exposure to pageants was limited to what I had seen on TV watching Miss USA, Miss Universe and Miss America. I didn't even know that pageants for married women or women over 30 even existed! I saw a local TV show one day and a woman was talking about how she had overcome MS and had joined this pageant to promote her platform, and how it had given her a place to give back. I was so moved by her interview that I dragged my husband half way across the state to see this pageant in person. That woman ended up winning BTW, and I was so impressed with the production and what these incredible women were doing with their lives that it started a fire within me to do the same. I cannot say enough positive things about this pageant or the director, Pam Curnel. From my first day she invested in me and my family. She is a talented, energetic and inspiring woman all on her own, but she has this way of finding each contestant's talents and gifts, and then she encourages you to use those through pageantry. She was the person who insisted that I return to a former personal interest and make a career out of it! It's just shocking to me to realize that the person that I am today is because of a decision that I made 5 years ago. I also have to say that I have made the most amazing friendships through this pageant, and that was something that I did not expect. I thought pageants made women catty and insecure, and I discovered just the opposite. I cherish the ladies that have become my friends, and I cannot imagine my life with them. I love these people and this organization so much, I am always looking for new women to join us because I know that they are missing out. I just wish we had more pageants and more directors like Pam Curnel in the industry because she is really changing women's lives through the Mrs. Washington and the Miss for Washington Pageant Family!
I was honored to be a Judge at the Mrs. Washington Pageant this past year. Even during COVID restrictions this was a fabulous event. Every safety concern was beautifully addressed. It made this year's pageant even more meaningful to the beautiful contestants and judges. Bravo!
I have competed in the Mrs. Washington America Pageant three consecutive years and every year brings new joys, fun and surprises. Pam and David Curnel are exemplary directors and people. They not only go above and beyond for their queens but the contestants as well. Pam has tremendously helped me gain confidence in myself as a person while helping in every aspect of competition. She truly wants every contestant to succeed and do their absolute best. Because of my amazing experience every year I will continue to compete until I get that crown!!! Would love to be a Mrs. Washington under their leadership.
I gotta say this is truely the best pageant system with a string sisterhood! The director Pamela Curnel has made it her life mission to make a difference & enrich women's lives! She is an inspiration to ALL women Everywhere!
Great Pageant! The experience I had keeps me coming back. Love the friends I have made and the director Pamela Curnel is so helpful! It truly is a sisterhood.
I have been blessed to know and work with Pamela Cassiano Curnel the Mrs. Washington America Director. I have never in my life meet someone who does so much for their contestants, staff, community and state. Pamela had her hands full dealing with co-vid and putting on a pageant and she handled it flawlessly. She mentors and has helped more woman than I can even begin to phantom. She is a true inspiration and leader. I am beyond blessed to have been one of her former Queens and to be able to work along side her to continue carry out her vision and to give back to a woman and system that has done so much for my family and myself. Cheers to the worlds best Director her legacy speaks volumes of our love and support for a woman that truly is pageantry.
One word - EXCEPTIONAL! I absolutely love Pam and this pageant system. Pam is so incredibly caring, loving, professional, timely, energetic...I could go on and on. She is not only an awesome pageant director but a true friend. She bends over backwards over and over again. A lifelong friend and an amazing pageant director! ??
A bright light in dark times.
I would like to nominate Pamela Curnel and the Mrs Washington pageants
Thank you, Pamela, for everything you do!
I don't know much about pageants but if all of them were run by a person as dedicated as Pamela everything would be smooth sailing.
The thought of having in person pageants this year was extremely daunting, and I was very concerned when I heard some were taking place. It seemed like an unnecessary risk. However, the ability to come together is so uplifting to the spirit. When caught in such a predicament I cannot say what choice I would make. In this situation Pamela did her due diligence to make everything as safe as possible, spending countless hours and immense energy to ensure safety to the best of her ability. In doing this she gave many who have struggled much this year a brief feeling of sanity that will help them to carry through until our world begins to shift back towards normalcy. My hope is the kindness and warmth showed during this time by Pamela will inspire the hearts of many others and all will come out of this with more giving and forgiving hearts and the willingness to go the extra mile.
When the world is falling aparrt a bit of normalacy is so hard to find and yet here it is. And not only "normal" but so wonderfully but together and even better than before I think it is so great becaus everyone can feel safe and have fun at same time how wonderful is that is take a special erson to be able to create that spave.
she does so lovly with all of these women it is just a beautiful thing
So many wonderful opportunities for all and many ways to give back to communities and programs. All beautifully done.
One of the best there is.
Being new to the pageant world can be very intimidating but Pamela makes everyone feel so comfortable and welcomed. She is a teacher, cheerleader, supporter, for all. I see her always go out of her way to make sure that every tiny detail is taken care of. She is constantly bringing new ideas to the table and improving what is already there. There is much to be learned from her and her approach to life and pageantry.
Pamela truly thinks of everything the pageant world is so lucky to have her and this amazing competition.
Pamela deserves ALL the accolades!
Pamela puts on an amazing pageant each year...... this year she spent so much time to keep up with the Covid restrictions and still put together a great pageant for the contestants. She is so kind and generous with each contestant and make sure they are recognized and truly appreciated!!
Anyone who has has the opportunity to work with Pamela knows firsthand how much love and care she puts into everything she does. She is so inspiring and we are very lucky to have her.
