Hljómahöll, which literally translates to 'Palace of Sounds', houses the The Icelandic Museum of Rock 'n' Roll as well as the Music School of Reykjanes and venues such as Stapi, Berg, Merkines and Félagsbíó cinema. Its role is to be the musical hotspot and cultural center for the municipalities on the Reykjanes peninsula such as Reykjanesbær (Keflavík, Njarðvík & Hafnir), Sandgerði, Garður, Grindavík and Vogar. Hljómahöll is a foundation for increased opportunities in creative industries in the area as well as tourism. Hljómahöll was officially opened on April 5, 2014.
Miss Universe Iceland crowns the Iceland representative for Miss Universe. Iceland has been competing in Miss Universe since 1956, however, they have never won a Miss Universe crown. The closest they have come is a first runner up position in 1962!
