Tamaryn Green was crowned Miss South Africa, granting her a place to compete for the Miss Universe 2018 crown. If she were to win the Miss Universe crown she would be the 3rd Miss Universe from South Africa and the first back to back win for the country.
Tamaryn was originally announced as one of the top 28 regional qualifiers, from the 900 whom entered, in April 2018 and was crowned the national winner on May 27, 2018. Tamaryn is the first Miss South Africa to not go to both Miss World and Miss Universe.
Tamaryn was born in Worcester, Western Cape, South Africa, and moved to Paarl South Africa when she was nine years old. Tamaryn is currently a Medical student at the University of Cape Town.
On November 22nd Tamaryn reveled her National Costume, which will be worn on the Miss Universe stage. Inspired by the national bird of Mzansi, the blue crane. The costume has more than 1000 blue-grey and black feathers that were hand placed on the costume, complete with jeweled leggings and a crystal encrusted headpiece that resembles the birds head including the beak. The costume was designed by Malikah Hajee and Lloyd Kandlin.
