Former Miss USA titleholder, actress/model, Shanna Moakler, is joining VH1's highly popular reality series "Hollywood Exes" this season. The show is set to premiere April 30. Moakler was the winner of the Miss New York USA pageant in 1995 and was originally the first runner-up at Miss USA 1995. Having begun modeling at age 15, former Playboy Playmate and reality star, Moakler first came to public attention as the winner of Miss New York USA and continued her work with Miss USA by serving as executive producer of the Miss Nevada USA state pageant.
The show examines the lives of women who have endured high-profile divorces from some of Hollywood's most important figures. "I've been a big fan of the show so I'm ecstatic to join the cast and work with some very creative people, both in front of and behind the camera," Moakler said, "Having gone through a divorce myself, I feel that I have things to contribute to the show's discussion of divorce and its impact on families, whether you're a famous person or not." Besides her work in pageants and entertainment, Moakler is also a successful businesswoman with her popular line of makeup products, Smoak Cosmetics and her new clothing line set to debut later this year.
Shanna Moakler Takes Over Miss Utah USA
The former Miss USA and Playboy model has been involved with the Miss USA Organization since she represented Rhode Island in the Miss Teen USA 1995 pageant. Now she is taking over the Miss Utah USA Organization as the Executive Director.
Taking over another state Moakler's recent acceptance of the Utah directorship is actually the third state Moakler has directed in her time with the Miss USA Organization. In the past, she was involved as the director with Miss California USA and is currently serving as the director for the Miss Nevada USA Organization since her appointment in 2012.
"I am honored to be given this position and so thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Utah’s young women," said Moakler, president of SMOAK Productions. "As the former director of the Miss California USA organization, I helped bring the state its first Miss USA winner in over a decade, and with Nevada, its first ever. I’m hoping to bring the same success to the great state of Utah." Not without controversy Moakler has also had a bit of controversy in her past regarding her involvement with the Miss California USA Organization. After then Miss Universe owner Donald Trump declined to remove former Miss California USA 2009 Carrie Prejean from her reign following posing nude for photos, Moakler resigned from her involvement with the Miss California USA Organization.
"I cannot with a clear conscience move forward supporting and promoting the Miss Universe Organization when I no longer believe in it, or the contracts I signed committing myself as a youth," Moakler stated at the time of her resignation. Shortly after Prejean's eventual dethronement, Moakler returned to the organization and has been involved with several different states since then.
Moakler has also used her voice a few years ago in a PETA anti-fur campaign, posing nude for the "I'd rather go naked than wear fur" photoshoot. She then decided as the Miss Nevada USA director that she would not award fur coats as prizes to her winners.
