I started when I was in high school to make my nana happy... but then I fell in love with the experience. I had this mindset as an athlete that pageants were all for the wrong reasons, but it turns out that I was wrong. When I got to The Citadel, they shaved off all of my hair, put me into a uniform, and I wasn't allowed to wear make-up. I had lost my identity. However, it gave me time to build my self back up, into the leader that I was meant to be. When my hair came back, and I found my long lost confidence... my little sister started to have self-esteem issues. I could not help but find myself sad and hurt, because to me, she was the most beautiful girl in the world. I decided to make a change that we could both be a part of. I signed up for another pageant to show my sister, myself, and everyone else that anything is possible. I wanted to show the world that everyone is capable of anything. I learned through the experience that it is very important to work on your physical appearance... but the most important attributes of a woman are those that come from within.
