Why start competing in pageants

I started competing in pageants because I wanted to overcome my fear of public speaking. I had a desire to speak publicly, but as long as can remember I've always feared to speak in front of others. Pageants allow me the opportunity to build the public speaking and formal etiquette skills needed to be a well-round leader in my community. Not to mention, I've met a lot of my best friends in pageantry.
