Isabella Rodriquez was crowned Miss World Venezuela after competing as Miss World Portuguesa. Isabella will now represent Venezuela at Miss World 2019.
The title went to a woman from the country’s largest slum. Isabella, 25, is from a Caracas shantytown called Petare -- home to well over half a million people. "From Petare to the world, dreams can in fact come true," Isabella said during the question and answer session of the competition. She added that girls in her crime-ridden slum want to be just like her.
At the Miss World pageant, Venezuela is tied with India for the record of the most victories, six. Isabella is hoping to make the number of wins for Venezuela seven.
