Sioma is a Michigan native from Grass Lakes. She graduated from Grass Lake High School before deciding to attend the University of Michigan where she graduated with a Bachelor’s in Women’s Studies and Sociology. She wants to earned her Master's Degree in Social Work or Public Health and begin a career path focused on inspiring youth and empowering women.
Sioma is no stranger to pageants. She entered the Miss Jackson County RoseQueen pageant in 2012. She finished in the Top 3. Sioma came back the next year and won the title.
Afterwards, Sioma tried her hand at the Miss Michigan USA pageant. She competed as Miss Jackson County at Miss Michigan USA 2015. While she did not place, she changed her path and entered into the Miss America Organization.
Sioma entered the 2015 Miss Jackson Crossroads Pageant. She won and went on to place as second runner-up at Miss Michigan 2015 on her first try. Inspired by her success, Sioma came back for her second try at the Miss Michigan crown as Miss Stateline 2016. She placed in the Top 10 and won a Preliminary Swimsuit Award.
Sioma took a year off from competing in 2017. She returned in 2018 to win the title of Miss Shoreline 2018. On her third try, Sioma’s dream came true. She was crowned Miss Michigan 2018 on Saturday, June 16th, 2018 at the Frauenthal Center located in Muskegon, Michigan. She also won her second Preliminary Swimsuit Award as well as receiving the Excellence in Interview Award.
As Miss Michigan, Sioma is advocating for survivors of sexual violence through her platform, “I Believe You: Supporting survivors of sexualized violence.” Her platform is inspired by her own experience at the University of Michigan, where she was sexually assaulted twice.
Sioma found little resources offered by her university for survivors of sexual violence. She stood in a silent protest at her graduation from the University of Michigan in 2016. This defining moment has led her to advocate on behalf of sexual assault survivors for the Miss Michigan Scholarship Pageant. She plans to partner with organizations across the state to bring more resources to survivors wherever there are gaps.
Sioma competed for the title of Miss America 2019 on September 9, 2018 in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
In 2019, she competed at the Miss Michigan USA 2020 pageant for the title of Miss Michigan USA 2020 and the opportunity to advance to the Miss USA 2020 pageant.
