I am Alanah Johnson, the 2015 International Junior Miss International Jr. Princess. I am a 5 year old energetic and fun loving Kindergartner from Country Club Hills, IL. I love singing, dancing, acting and modeling. I am a current talent of Lily’s Talent in Chicago, IL and I have been fortunate to be featured in several print campaigns for various companies such as Walgreen’s, American Girl, Land’s End, Learning Resources and Montgomery Wards. I love spending time on set and enjoy interacting and working with new and exciting people.
To say I started competing in pageants when I was little would sound a little odd, being that I am only 5, but I entered my first pageant at the age of 3. After watching my older cousin practice for an upcoming State pageant in her living room, I became very interested and started practicing with her. Our family and friends encouraged me, and of course mom and dad, to enter. They seemed to think that I had the right personality for pageantry. I had so much fun competing in my first pageant that I just knew I had to try another. My journey brought me to IJM where I captured the Illinois Jr. Princess title and then went on to win the International Finals, which were held in Virginia Beach. My year thus far has been such an amazing journey. I have had the opportunity to explore the world with my IJM International Sister Queens, who have truly become like family to me. Together we have travelled internationally to London and Paris, France and soon we will be departing for the Bahamas. We have visited several states here in the U.S., including New York, New Jersey, Texas, and Atlanta and together we have helped welcome girls all over the world into the IJM Dynasty.
In addition to the many exciting adventures I have had travelling as an International Queen, pageantry has also introduced me to a life of serving and giving. There is nothing I enjoy more than volunteering and sacrificing my time to help others. I have had the opportunity to prepare meals for underprivileged families in my community as well as prepare a years worth of meals for entire villages across the world. I have helped to organize coat drives and volunteered at several Charity Marathons raising money for Breast Cancer Research, Heart Disease Research, as well as Survivor Benefit Foundations. My favorite community project thus far has been serving for the Outreach Ministry of Victory Apostolic Church, in Matteson, IL. Together with my mom, I prepared over 100 sandwiches which were then passed out by the Ministry, along with soup, coffee, water, and hygiene products to people who have no place to call home. I collected monetary as well as grocery donations to use to make the sandwiches. I was very proud to be able to help feed so many people by giving just a little bit of my time. Volunteering has become a part of who I am. I am always looking for new opportunities to serve and will continue to help others long after pageantry.
Pageantry has opened up an entire world for me that I could have only dreamed about. I have meet so many new people and have experienced so much in such a short period of time. I am blessed to have been allowed to travel on this journey and look forward to the many years ahead.
