In 2009, Acacia Courtney competed for and won the Miss Connecticut's Outstanding Teen 2009 title and the opportunity to compete for Miss America's Outstanding Teen 2009. At the national pageant, she won the Community Service Award.
In 2011, she competed in the Miss Teen USA pageant system and placed 3rd Runner-up to the Miss Connecticut Teen USA 2011 title.
In 2012, Courtney returned to the Miss America Organization as she competed for Miss New York 2012 representing Miss Gotham City. She placed in the Top 10 at this pageant. She returned to Miss New York once again in 2013 as Miss New York City 2013 and placed 2nd Runner-up to winner Nina Davuluri.
In 2014, Acacia Courtney won Miss Connecticut 2014 and the opportunity to compete on another national stage at Miss America 2015. She placed in the Top 15 finalist in the Miss America 2015 competition.
In 2018, Courtney returned to the Miss Universe Organization to compete in the Miss Florida USA 2018 competition. There she placed as a semi-finalist.
In 2019, she competed in her home state of Connecticut for the Miss Connecticut USA 2019 title. She walked away victorious as the new Miss Connecticut USA 2019 with the chance to compete on another national stage at Miss USA 2019.
She majored in Communications with a concentration in Journalism, and minoring in Theology. She is the founder and president of Racing for Home, Inc., a certified 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing and retraining thoroughbred ex-racehorses for new careers beyond the racetrack. A life-long animal lover, Acacia entered the racing industry professionally as a broadcast journalist specializing in horse racing.
Acacia promotes the personal platform of “The Monday Campaigns: A Guide to a Healthier World,” which advocates for small, easy-to-adopt changes that can result in major health improvements. She believes that the United States is becoming unhealthier as a nation, and it is the core goal of her platform to address the way we approach the concept of health. The Monday Campaigns is a nonprofit health initiative that encompasses the entire approach to health consciousness. Acacia advocates for Meatless Monday, Move It Monday and Kids Cook Monday, encouraging alterations to our daily lifestyle that can be influential in creating a healthy body, a healthy mind and a healthy world.
Acacia is an accomplished dancer and performs ballet en pointe during the talent portion of competition, but is also proficient in jazz, musical theater, and international ballroom dance styles. She has studied at Steps on Broadway, the Joffrey Ballet School, and American Ballet Theatre.

She was named a semifinalist in the 2009 Youth American Ballet Grand Prix Ballet Competition out of 90 contestants. She was also selected as a dancer in the opening number of the 2011 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on CBS.
