Ms. Wheelchair Ohio is a program that allows the recipient to educate, advocate, and empower all people in our state by travelling throughout Ohio to speak with various groups about the issues of importance to people with disabilities. She will encourage others to reach their full potential by working to highlight the accomplishments of the disability community, as well as encourage acceptance and equality throughout our state.
This competition is unlike other competitions and pageants of its kind. The group of highly qualified judges does not judge on beauty per se, but instead looks for inner beauty by looking at the candidates for confidence, leadership, personality and the ability to advocate for others. They pick the person who is best able to show those with disabilities who think they cannot make a difference, that they truly can!
Then, the new Ms. Wheelchair Ohio, will go on to compete for Ms. Wheelchair America where she will compete against potentially 30 different contestants from all over the nation. She will need to raise money to cover the cost of entering and traveling to and from the event. Each year, the national competition takes place in a different location. Last year (2013), the event took place in Houston, Texas in the beginning of July.
In addition, the pageant also need sponsors in order to make this inspiring opportunity available to contestants from all over Ohio. If you would like to make a donation or become a corporate sponsor, message this page, call 419-721-9241 or e-mail [email protected].
