Ms. Empowered Florida is Puerto Rico's official preliminary pageant to The Empowered Woman Pageant national pageants. Each year, one winner is chosen to represent the state of Puerto Rico at The Empowered Woman Pageant. They also receive the opportunity to represent The Empowered Woman Pageant throughout their home states for the duration of their reign as well as a prize package selected by the Ms. Empowered Puerto Rico directors.

All contestants for Ms. Empowered Puerto Rico must participate in four areas of competition: private panel interview with the judges, swimsuit, evening gown, and onstage question. Women who live in Puerto Rico and who are older than 21 years of age are eligible to compete in Ms. Empowered Puerto Rico.
