Miss Macon Scholarship Organization

The Miss Macon Scholarship Competition is a preliminary or stepping stone to Miss America. Every year we send two representatives to represent Macon. We send Miss Macon to compete for the title of Miss Georgia and Miss Macon’s Outstanding Teen to compete in the Miss Georgia’s Outstanding Teen Pageant, held every June in Columbus, Georgia.

Established in 1921, The Miss Macon Scholarship Organization provides opportunities for young women to achieve their personal and professional ambitions. It is a not-for-profit affiliate and preliminary of the Miss America Organization which is one of the nation’s leading achievement programs and the world’s largest provider of scholarship assistance for young women. The Miss America Organization provides young women with a vehicle to further their personal and professional goals and instills a spirit of community service through a variety of unique nationwide community-based programs. On an annual basis, Miss America state and local titleholders, along with the Organization’s network of volunteers, participate in more than 12,000 community-service projects, providing in excess of 500,000 service hours to worthy causes. Miss America’s National Platform is the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH). All of the Miss contestants are required to raise $100 for CMNH.

Georgia has had two Miss America’s. Neva Jane Langley who was from Macon, was our first. Second was Betty Cantrell from Warner Robins. Georgia has had one Miss America’s Outstanding Teen, Olivia McMillan from Warner Robins. For the first time in our teen history, Miss Macon’s Outstanding Teen 2015, Victoria Smith, won the title of Miss Georgia’s Outstanding Teen 2015. She placed in the top 10 at Miss American’s Outstanding Teen.

Every year young women ages 13-24 come from all over the state to compete for the titles. We are excited and feel that because so many people visit our city, that this definitely impacts the community in a positive way. Having been involved with the Miss America Organization since 1989, I cannot stress the importance of this program and the vital role it plays in making a difference in the lives of young women. In giving back, these women volunteer hours of service to their communities aiding so many worthy causes, specifically the Children’s Miracle Network.

Since we are a nonprofit organization, we look to the community and media for their contributions in the forms of airtime, gift certificates, sponsorship of awards and cash scholarships, as well as meals and accommodations for the judges who volunteer their time. For businesses who would like to donate gift certificates, we will be having two winners, and four runners-up and a people’s choice winner. We also have a silent auction that evening. In exchange for your generosity you will receive recognition in our program book as well as on-stage.
