Previously known as Miss Hawaii Universe, Miss Hawaii is a beauty pageant competition that selects the representative of the state in Hawaii for the Miss USA pageant.

The beauty pageant was formed in 1952, and its headquarters are in Honolulu. Miss Hawaii Teen USA is a beauty pageant that selects the representative of Hawaii for the Miss Teen USA beauty pageant.

History of Miss Hawaii USA & Miss Hawaii Teen USA



Hawaii first started competing in the Miss USA pageant in 1962. However, despite the late start, Hawaii is one of the most successful states, with four Miss USA winners.

The Miss Hawaii USA titleholders have competed in many international pageants, such as Miss International, Miss World, and Miss Universe.

Hawaii has also been successful in terms of the number and value of placements at Miss Teen USA. Miss Hawaii Teen USA winners have increasingly been titleholders of local pageant competitions too.

Who Is the New Miss Hawaii USA and Miss Hawaii Teen USA?



Savannah Mar'i Gankiewicz from Wailea won the crown of Miss Hawaii USA 2023, held at the Hawaii Convention Center in Honolulu on January 15, 2023.

As the winner of Miss Hawaii USA, Gankiewicz will represent her state for the title of Miss USA in 2023.

Noelani DeNisi from Kahului is the winner of Miss Teen Hawaii 2023. She will represent her state for the title of Miss Teen USA in 2023.

What Is the Mission of Miss Hawaii USA?



The organization aims to empower young women to realize their personal, professional, and philanthropic dreams. The beauty pageants provide experiences and opportunities that foster self-growth and promote success.

The contestants learn beauty and wellness tools and personal development skills that enhance their self-confidence throughout the competition.

They also receive a platform to help them make positive changes and become inspirational role models.

What is the judging criteria for Miss Hawaii USA?



The judges score each Miss Hawaii USA contestant in three areas of competition: interview, swimsuit (Miss)/activewear (Teen), and evening gown.

The contestants, character, poise, and confidence also affect the judge’s score. The Miss Hawaii USA pageant has no talent portion of the competition.

What Are the qualifications for Miss Hawaii USA and Miss Hawaii Teen USA?



To qualify for the beauty pageant competitions, each contestant must be a female, a US citizen, and a resident or a full-time student in Hawaii.

The contestants for Miss Hawaii USA need to be between the age of 18 and 28, whereas the contestants for Miss Hawaii Teen USA need to be between 14 and 19 years old.

There are no height or weight requirements the contestants need to meet to qualify. The pageant judges are looking for confident, intelligent, outgoing young women with healthy and fit bodies.

Do you need previous experience to compete at Miss Hawaii USA & Hawaii Teen USA?



The contestants don’t need previous pageant experience or a preliminary title to compete at the beauty pageants. However, participating in local preliminary pageants can give the contestants experience and sponsorships, which will be beneficial for them for the State competition.

Miss Hawaii USA & Miss Hawaii Teen USA is the official preliminary to the Miss USA & Miss Teen USA pageants.

The winner of Miss Hawaii USA and competes at the Miss USA pageant, representing Hawaii, for a chance to win the title of Miss USA and further go on to compete at Miss Universe. Miss Hawaii USA has four phases of competition that include: private interview, on-stage question, evening gown and swimsuit.
