Miss Cottage Grove is a preliminary pageant to the Miss Minnesota pageant. The winner of Miss Cottage Grove advances to the Miss Minnesota pageant where she will have a chance to advance to the Miss America pageant.
To date, the most successful Miss Cottage Grove contestant was Gretchen Carlson, who was Miss Cottage Grove 1988. She ultimately won Miss Minnesota 1988 and then Miss America in 1989.
