The Miss Capital City Scholarship Pageant is a local preliminary to the Miss Illinois and Miss America pageants. The Miss America Organization is the largest provider of scholarship assistance to young women in the world, making available more than $46 million in cash and tuition scholarship assistance every year. The Miss America Organization provides young women with a vehicle to further their personal and professional goals and instills a spirit of community service through a variety of unique nationwide community-based programs. On an annual basis, Miss America state and local titleholders, along with the Organization’s network of volunteers, participate in more than 9,000 community-service projects, providing in excess of 500,000 service hours to worthy causes. Rich in history and social significance, the Miss America Organization is a not-for-profit organization that has maintained, for many decades, a tradition of empowering American women to achieve their personal and professional goals, while providing a forum in which to express their opinions, talent and intelligence.
In keeping with the ideals of the Miss America Organization, The Miss Capital City Program and it's affiliates has and will continue to award its winners in the form of scholarship assistance. Judging is based on a personal interview, talent, evening wear, and onstage interview. Along with exemplary academic achievement and community involvement, we look for young women that exhibit the ideals of the Miss America Organization: Talent, determination, intelligence and community-mindedness.
