I was so incredibly impressed by how much hard work and passion was put into MCU in it's inaugural year. From activities and parties throughout the week, to the incredible sponsor and prize package presented to not only the two National winners, but to ALL titleholders. This director truly works year round to make her titleholders and sponsors feel appreciated. I have sponsored many systems that have been around for decades longer and I can say this system belongs in the group of elites.
Having competed in multiple inaugural pageants, I was FLOORED with how well organized MCU was and I would easily be going back if I was eligible for 2022! Most importantly, I felt respected, cared for, and listened to throughout the week. The directors were proactive in communicating delays (ex: a judge was late to interviews by an hour and we were notified). Additionally, we had expressed concerns about the music and stage quality - the director quickly got the hotel to rebuild our stage and changed the music for finals night. We had plenty of rehearsal time so even though we had a hotel ballroom stage, there was plenty of time to practice. Greenville is super fun, so many sponsors and fun activities are walking distance from the hotel and the visit Greenville day was full of so much laughter and fun! The girls were also incredible. You’ll find your one or two catty girls everywhere, but I made amazing friends and was inspired by so many of the girls! They came from such diverse backgrounds and I really valued the diversity of our class (race, size, degrees, pageant experience, etc). The best part is the scholarship - every single candidate at nationals earns a $32,000 scholarship to Marymount University. If they have a program (in person or online) that meets your academic goals, I highly recommend even if the goal is to just show up and get that. I’m planning on using mine towards my doctorate! The rest of the prize package and swag bags was great for an inaugural year and I expect will continue to grow with the number of new sponsors already announced. The top 5 in each division earn a professional development class from the Disney Institute - need I say more? MCU had awesome sponsors!! Even though I’m really bad at on stage question, I loved that we had an un-scored OSQ so the audience could learn more about us. We also had freedom to introduce ourselves both on stage and in private interviews. The interview format was very professional and board room style. It focused around your resume, so I loved getting to talk about everything I wanted to! You also have the opportunity to do 30 second intros and closing, so you feel very in control of the interview. Price wise it is pretty standard and inclusive. The hotel block rate was very affordable and since the organization is a 501c3 nonprofit getting sponsors was super easy! Ad page and opening number are included and there are no ticket sale requirements or anything. As someone who likes to pageant on a budget (thanks to my student loan debt, MCU’s national platform), this made it super easy to plan for. All in all, I loved the women, I loved the vision, I loved my experience, and I loved Greenville. I can’t wait to see the system grow!Show less
