My platform for 2015 is "Panhandle Mothers Against Methamphetamine", our Texas Chapter of Mothers Against Methamphetamine. Our Mission is "Help: for yourself, your family and your addicted loved one....Hope: for the future with education and inspiration from our staff, over comers and their families. Healing: through understanding, unconditional love and the grace of God".
I am on the Executive Board of Directors, and we service the 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle. I got involved with them after losing several friends to the horror of Methamphetamine....young, wonderful friends who were captured and killed by this terrible drug. Deceptive, euphoric and an epidemic like nothing seen before, it is killing people of all ages, races, social standings, genders... It is absolutely everywhere.
I hope to use my State title and win a National TAW title to help our organization help more people by putting more MAMA's in place throughout the US. Currently we have MAMA's in North Carolina, Georgia, Indiana, Texas, Missouri and New Mexico http://www.panhandlemamas.com/
My personal cause is 'Trinity's Closet'. 'Trinity's Closet' started out with my lending old pageant dresses to my daughter's friends for formal dances. I always ended up giving the gown to the person because they looked so great in it and they were so happy to have it! I started to think that I could easily do this on a special case by case basis in my town. I created Trinity's Closet in an effort to help Middle School and High School age young women attend their formal dances or formal events with a 'primo' gown who would not be able to finance the experience on their own. A formal is a significant milestone in the life of a young woman and I have had much joy and blessings giving away these dresses!
