Titianna (Tatianna) Ammons is a lifelong resident of Champaign County, wife, mother of two, and activist. She is the founder and owner of Ngoma Expressions, a West African drum and dance collective aimed at honoring and sharing the rich history and culture of West Africa with Central Illinois. Titianna has spent the better part of a decade working as a phlebotomist here in town and is currently studying history at Parkland Community College. She looks forward to pursuing a degree in public health from the University of Illinois. Titianna is also heavily involved by serving as the Census liaison to Rep. Carol Ammons with Champaign County’s census efforts to make sure everyone is counted this April.She is currently the precinct committee woman in Cunningham 6 of Urbana. She is the candidate for Champaign County Board District 11 which spans the north-central portions of both Champaign and Urbana. As a County Board member, she intends to take on three big issue areas that concern us all: Housing, taxes, and corrections. Titianna believes that when we change the way we interact with the systems that were built to oppress us, we get to redefine success and prosperity. She is Now serving as the Program Director of HVNeighborhood Transformation and training director for an upcoming business BookerTea serving East African cuisine.Titianna is a writing contributor to Unity in Action Magazine Lastly Titianna is a team walk captain for team SomeNerve in Champaign-Urbana which walks for Multiple Sclerosis Awareness as she her self lives with MS she wants to Encourage the black community to get in the know on this life changing topic
