Originally I did this as a dare for myself. I am turning 50 this year and wanted to start off the new decade with a bang! But after I realized how I can bring more awareness to the struggle of military spouses finding gainful employment, I thought entering a pageant would bring that message to potential employers in my community. As a military spouse, I've had to leave positions I loved with every move, and the transition to a new network can be difficult. I also believe celebrating one's self for who he or she is, right now, no matter the age or size. We are all works in progress, but we can find happiness during our progression to a better self.
