My name is McKayla Howard, and I was born and raised in Springfield, Ohio. My early years weren’t easy, as I had lost my father the day before my seventh birthday. It wasn’t until age 10 that I developed a strong interest for sports and made it a recurring hobby. I admired volleyball and softball as well as the simple aspect of working with other people to accomplish one shared goal. I competed with the #1 juniors fast pitch team in the state when i was 12. I also competed with the All-American Champaign County Sharks when I was 13. As i walked about life it became really apparent my #1 quality was my empathy. My desire to help people and ease their lives has pushed me to study nursing at Wright State University, then continue my education to receive an MD.
