In 2018, Manita placed Top 10 at Miss Universe 2018.
Devkota was born and raised in Gorkha, Nepal. She moved to the United States in hopes of furthering her education and career. She settled in North Carolina where she was accepted to East Carolina University located in Greenville, North Carolina.
During her time at East Carolina University, Devkota was on the Dean’s List for seven straight semesters. She recently graduated with a degree in Public Health.
Devkota is an advocate for girls' education, public health and women empowerment. She is an Ambassador of Women's Health at Days for Girls International where she is working to change the stigmas and obstacles that menstruating women and girls face in Nepal. She is also involved with the She’s the First Foundation. Devkota aspires to be an attorney to help women in regards to health and women's rights.
Devkota was first approached to compete in the Miss Nepal Pageant in 2014. However, she did not feel she was ready for the competition and decided to put off competing.
Devkota decided to enter the Miss Nepal Pageant in 2018 representing her hometown of Gorkha. The pageant selects the country’s representatives for Miss World, Miss Universe, Miss International and Miss Earth.
Devkota was crowned Miss Universe Nepal 2018 on April 11, 2018 at the Hotel Annapurna located in Kathmandu, Nepal. She was crowned by the outgoing Miss Universe Nepal 2017, Nagma Shrestha. Devkota also took home the Miss Glamour award.
Devkota will go on to compete for the title of Miss Universe 2018 on December 16, 2018 in Bangkok, Thailand. She is the second Miss Universe Nepal to ever compete for the Miss Universe crown.
