Hi everyone my name is Lindsay Johnston, your Miss New Jersey International 2017. I am from Williamstown, New Jersey and I am 22 years old. This past May I graduated from Rowan Unviersity with my bachelors in psychology. I hope to one day go onto becoming a clinical psychologist specialized in mental health and trauma. I have recently just started working for a recovery center for mental health clients & drug/alcohol recoveries. When not in school, working or pageant prepping I enjoy traveling around the country & internationally, I love going to concerts especially country ones, going to sport games especially the Philadelphia flyers games, working out at the gym staying heart healthy & most importantly spending time with family and friends. I am always bubbly & happy, people say I am very compassionate & hard working person. I can strike up a conversation with just about anyone about anything. I love meeting new people and that is what I am most excited for at nationals, to make new friends and bring more awareness to my platform to new faces.

Pageant Platform

My platform is eating disorder awareness in honor of my brother, Joey. He was diagnosed with anorexia and bulimia at a very young age. I have seen at first hand what this horrible disorder can do to a person and their family. Did you know that eating disorders are the number one mortality rate in any mental illness? We need to break the myths and stereo types and bring awareness to everyone to help save lives. I want to be there for people struggling, & encourage them to never lose faith & hope, and to always know that not matter what, they are beautiful . We can confront this serious illness with increased awareness, early intervention & improved access to treatment. Everyone should get screened for an eating disorder, it is often hidden in plain sight. Recovery is absolutely possible, the sooner one seeks treatment the better the chance of a good recovery. Eating disorders do not discrimate, they affect all ages, genders, ethnicities, etc. however we all need to know know matter what we are all beautiful because God created us all unique and special.
