Born in Hammond, Indiana, LaShan Dixon, for the past two years with the Mrs. United States Organization, has been able to positively change lives, while transforming women to be positive reinforcements in their home and community through her platform Beauty Behind Bars™.
A graduate of Middle Tennessee State University, Mrs. LaShan Dixon earned her Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Graduate Certificate in Health Care Management, Graduate Certificate in Gerontology, and her Master’s degree in Health and Human Performance.
Mrs. Dixon has held many crowns including Miss Black & Gold, Miss Middle Tennessee Blue Raider, Miss Black Tennessee USA, Miss Spirit of the South, National Ms. Unite, Mrs. Tennessee United States placing 1st runner up to Mrs. United States 2017 and Mrs. Southeast Region United States placing 4th runner up to Mrs. United States 2018.
She is very passionate about helping others in the community serving as the official spokeswoman of Beauty Behind Bars™ which is a self-esteem program created to help women and girls break away from mental incarceration and self-imprisonment related to low self-esteem, doubt, depression, suicide, and dream killing.
In addition to competing in pageants, LaShan has coordinated and participated in numerous fashion shows and exclusive events. She is a founder of "Walking with a Purpose Classes" and Co- Founder of "H.O.P.E. Every day" with her husband. Mrs. LaShan Dixon is very active with a number of community organizations including her roles as Graduate Advisor for the Eta Psi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Board Examiner for the Tennessee Center for Performance Excellence, Resolutions Committee Chair of Tennessee Public Health Association, Board Member of the Community Anti-Drug Coalition of Rutherford County, Committee Member of the Heart of Tennessee American Red Cross Community Outreach, Advisory Board Member of Murfreesboro City Schools Farm2 School, Advisory Member of the Gold Sneaker Advisory Committee and Member of the Community Wellness Council of Rutherford County. Mrs. Dixon has been a leader in the Rutherford County community for more than 10 years, hosting multiple community events while contributing towards several grants for women and underserved populations.
Professionally, Mrs. Dixon works as the Assistant Public Health County Director for the Rutherford County Health Department. In 2017, Mrs. Dixon was honored to receive a proclamation from the Murfreesboro City Mayor as well as from the Rutherford County Mayor who proclaimed December 4th as LaShan Mathews Dixon Day for her professional and personal commitment to improving the quality of life for others in the community.
LaShan is a member of First Baptist Church –Murfreesboro where she active in the Dance Ministry. In her spare time she enjoys working with youth, traveling with her husband, shoe shopping, spinning the wheels as a DJ and spending time with her family and friends. A native of Nashville, Tennessee she currently resides in Tennessee with her husband Lamar and beautiful little girl Londyn.
