Growing up, I was a very chunky child who was the exact opposite of girlie. I had never heard of pageants and was definitely not looking to compete in one. However, as we all know, God's plan is always bigger than ours. I began competing in pageantry in 2011 when I got an open call letter in the mail for National American Miss. I competed in the 2011 competition and did not win anything. The next year when the pageant came around again I decided to give it another try. The 2012 pageant ended in my winning the state Best Thank You Note. Ever since then I was hooked. I began competing in local pageants to gain more experience. I then worked my way up to competing in state and national pageants. That letter I got seven years ago changed my life forever and I am forever grateful for the opportunities, memories, and experiences I have gained through pageantry. I have found myself through competing in pageants and I would not be who I am today without them.
