Miss Connecticut U.S. International 2015 is Kelsey Knutsen!
Hey! I'm Kelsey and I'm 23 years old. I grew up in Staten Island, received my Bachelor of Science in Physics from SUNY Oneonta, and I now work as a Paralegal in the Energy industry while working to obtain my Masters in Business Administration.
I am a passionate woman with a need to learn. I believe that one should never settle for one path when there are so many different ones to explore! I enjoy woodworking, yoga, physics, cake decorating, aerial tissue art, writing poetry, and playing a variety of musical instruments including the Harp. I love animals and have two dogs of my own – a Bernese Mountain Dog and a White German Shepherd.
My passion for music has helped me connect with the Music Therapy and Arts Education causes. With Music Therapy, music is used within a therapeutic context to help address the physical, emotional, cognitive and social needs of individuals. Music therapy also provides an avenue for communication that can be helpful to those who find it difficult to express themselves in words. When I was younger, learning to create and perform music at my school provided an outlet for me to convey my thoughts and emotions while relieving some of the stress that I was enduring. Unfortunately, arts education has dissipated immensely since I was a student. One of my goals is to promote the need for art and music education by raising awareness of all of the positive therapeutic qualities that music and art generate.
I believe that life is a gift, and we should cherish every moment of it. Every day I look to find the extraordinary amongst the mundane. Never do anything with half of your heart. Always strive to achieve all that you are capable of. Be amazing.
