I started competing in pageants at a young age as a way to bond with my cousins. I got my start in my hometown of Barstow, CA. After taking a break from middle and high school, I decided to compete again as a Miss. I am a curvier contestant and did not place well in the pageant systems I was choosing. One day a pageant friend referred me to America's Miss California. In 2017 I competed at what would be my first state-level pageant, and I placed the first runner-up. I am competing again hoping to win this year. This system and many others have taught me valuable life skills, many I use in my career every day. I am a high school biology teacher and a graduate student at the age of 21. I believe pageants have taught me great things but of all the ability to love myself for who I am and to find a cause that I love and support.
