Jennifer Whittington is Mrs. Maryland United States 2016!
Jennifer was crowned Mrs. Maryland United States in February of 2016, and because of her kind and pleasant personality, she was also named Mrs. Congeniality by her fellow competitors. Since then, she has been promoting her platform of kindness everywhere she goes, but even before her reign her personality was one of kindness and love. She is a kindness ambassador, RAKtivist (Random Acts of Kindness Activist) and a genuinely good person who has been aptly nick-named Jenn of ARK (Acts of Random Kindness). Her #kindnessmob movement is based on the simple belief that kindness is strength. Regarding her platform choice, Jennifer says, "Any action repeated over and over becomes a habit, and as kindness becomes a habit, the culture is shifted and peace becomes possible. This is a movement to make our communities and world a kinder and more compassionate place for all. We should go through life not just looking at how we can make the world better for ourselves, but how we can make it better for others as well."
Jennifer has made numerous appearances where she speaks on the benefits of kindness and how just one act can change someone’s day or their life. Some of her appearances include going to Kindness Mobs, HOPE tutoring (an organization Jennifer started to work with underprivileged homeless youth), Operation We Care and Operation Gratitude, as well as fundraisers for the humane society, autism awareness, MS, child abuse awareness, Pennies for Patients, and diabetes. Jennifer has also been a Future Business Leaders of America judge and has promoted unity in the community. She has also participated in domestic violence prevention events, Habitat for Humanity and Happy Helpers for the Homeless to name a few.
Jennifer is married to her high school sweetheart U.S Army veteran Michael Whittington for 14 years now and is still going strong. She is the proud mother of three amazing children: Aaliyah who is 12, Alyssa who is 10, and Tyler who is 5.
Jennifer is currently enrolled at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore pursuing her master’s degree in Career and Technology Education and Guidance and Counseling. She is employed as a Technology Professional Development Coach for the Wicomico County Board of Education in Salisbury, Maryland where she has been given the opportunity to promote the Great Kindness Challenge to all of her students and staff.
In her spare time, Jennifer enjoys spending time with and volunteering with her family, taking vacations (especially ones where she can snorkel) and leaving a legacy of love, kindness, and hope to all she meets.
