Representing the rare disease community
Nanny, patron of the fine arts and longtime member of SOAP Theatre
I started competing in pageants over a decade ago. Back in 2008 I wanted to take part in miss osoyoos program aside was always in awe of the beautiful princesses in their gorgeous dresses. Over time my interest changed into challenging myself to do new things and use pageants as aneeded opportunity to foster positive personal development. Now I see pageants as a purpose. A means to raise awareness for rare diseases and represent the rare disease community which I am a part of with my own rare connective tissue disorder. I want to not only make light of the issues people with complex or rare diseases face but also show there is hope. Post diagnose a year after high-school I was devastated and gave up on all of my dreams in particular continuing on with pageants. Though it took awhile I did get back into them and am immensely proud of how much I accomplished in a decade. As such I want to not only represent the rare disease community but be a role model and more so a source of hope and inspirationto those going through similar things.
