Abigail Callaway was selected as Miss of Georgia in March of 2018. During the week of Thanksgiving of 2018, she competed in Orlando, Florida and was crowned Miss of America. During the national competition, Abigail competed in Interview, Personality Projection and Poise, the General Awareness Test, as well as Talent. She received the Outstanding Achievement preliminary award at the conclusion of Preliminary competition. Abigail became involved with American Pageants to be a part of an organization that recognized young women who wanted to pave their own road in the world and to promote the organization’s values of high achievement and service.

Abigail was a student at the University of Georgia studying music with a concentration in Oboe. During her time at the University of Georgia, she has been involved with IMPACT UGA, a service learning organization where she co-led a 40 hour service trip to Philadelphia focusing on disability advocacy and awareness, as well as The University of Georgia Redcoat Band, Sigma Alpha Iota, Destination Dawgs, and in small and large performing ensembles. She is passionate about various social justice topics such as sexual violence, disability advocacy, and child welfare.

In December of 2017, Abigail founded her personal platform, The Sunflower Project. She founded her platform to challenge negative stereotypes surrounding survivors of sexual violence by comparing them to sunflowers: survivors are bold, beautiful, and strong enough to withstand the droughts of life. With The Sunflower Project, Abigail has raised money for local sexual assault centers, appeared at Walk a Mile in Her Shoes events, organized “Sunflower Days” to provide education and spread awareness about sexual violence, surveys individuals on topics related to sexual violence, and will be a headline speaker at Take Back the Night in Athens, Georgia, in 2019.

Throughout her reign, Abigail will serve as an ambassador and advocate for American Pageants and Special Olympics. She looks forward to traveling through communities engaging in service and making appearances and spending time with her sister queens and the American Pageants staff. If you are interested in having Abigail come and make an appearance, please contact American Pageants.
