Miss Jumbo 2018 is Bantita Sangkachart!

There is always more and more variety in pageants. In Thailand's Miss Jumbo pageant, women are compared to elephants. Not everyone would be thrilled to be compared to an elephant, but in this pageant, the bigger the better. (Read: 20 Plus Size Looks for Your Next Pageant)

About Miss Jumbo 2018 pageant

The Miss Jumbo 2018 pageant was held February 24 in the Nakhon Ratchasima province in Thailand. The pageant is known to compare plus-sized women to elephants. The judges are looking for someone who has elegance, poise and massiveness as an elephant. This year, 19 women and 18 transgenders participated in the pageant. The Miss Jumbo pageant has strict weight requirements for participating, and you have to weigh at least 80 kilos.

The pageant has many awards, including the popular vote, best personality, best gown and heaviest contestant. This year's heaviest contestant was Pipu Supachokethakoon weighing 156 kilos. Supachokethakoon is not the heaviest contestant this pageant has ever seen, though. A few years ago Thanchanok Mekkeaw was crowned Miss Jumbo Universe, the title given to the heaviest contestant, with Thanchanok weighing 182 kilos.

The pageant aims to raise awareness to elephant populations that have decreased in the last years. The winners of the pageant are crowned "Thi Da Change," which means "Daughter of the Elephant," and they will tour the country the following year to promote elephant charities and protection.
