My first experience with ABC was the 2015 Nationals. My daughter was 10 and wanted to give pageants a try. After attending, she decided she wanted to go for it! The director, Tammy, was very helpful in letting us know what we needed to do in order to start being a top competitor. We have since attended all ABC pageants in 2015 & 2016. With her had work and dedication, my daughter claimed the second highest title at the 2016 Nationals. Although the pageant community is small and despite the competition, almost everyone is willing to help everyone else. All of the judges have behaved professionally and fair. If there is a problem or question about scores, Tammy will make every effort to get the answers. Each pageant features a charity that the contestants can contribute to. This has taught many the importance of giving back. ABC also recognizes academic achievement and community service. The only part of pageants, all systems, that has any downside for me is length of crowning. With all of the side awards, door awards, raffles and titles, I do tend to get a bit antsy. But that is strictly a personal opinion. Being my child is older, I would like to see more cash prizes as opposed to gifts. My daughter will spend 2017 promoting and helping ABC as she unable to compete this year due to her title win. We plan on returning to the ABC system in 2018.
