AREAS OF COMPETITION:
1. JUDGES INTERVIEW (30% OF TOTAL SCORE)
Contestants will have an opportunity to be interviewed by a panel of five judges. Judging is based on personality, appearance, character, ability to articulate ideas and answers to judges' questions (no political, religious, or controversial questions will be asked, unless a contestant specifically lists such topics in their Biography).
Contestants must wear a nice dress or skirt suit. It should be a dress that reflects your personal style and personality, and compliments your personal shape. It should not be ill-fitting [not too tight, and not too loose (not baggy)]. Solid colors work best. No pant-suits.
2. EVENING GOWN/POISE & APPEARANCE (30%)
Contestants must wear a floor-length gown of their choice, and will be judged on poise, appearance, appropriateness of fit, & gracefulness on stage.
3. FUN FASHION (30%)
Contestants will be judged by their poise, appearance, creativity, appropriateness of fit, and overall personality on stage. This year's attire theme is fun: 1970's Disco Attire! The more colorful, the better!
4. BEAUTY/PHOTOGENIC (10%)
Contestants will be judged by their beauty of face, attractiveness, appearance, overall photogenic quality, and that special glow of inner beauty that comes shining through.
OPTIONAL AREAS OF COMPETITION:
The Talent Competition is an optional category that has no impact on the total pageant score. This competition is an opportunity for contestants to showcase their various talents (singing, dancing, playing a musical instrument, etc.) and creative expression on stage. The time limit for each talent presentation is 90 seconds. The contestant must begin and finish their talent onstage. Live animals, dangerous props, fire, and backdrops are not allowed. When selecting your music and talent content, please keep in mind the values and standards of the Texas United America Pageant and the national United America Pageant organizations. Talent is judged based on overall first impression, stage presence, technical skill, appropriateness of costume, music, choreography, quality of performance, interpretive ability, and overall entertainment value.
2. COMMUNITY SERVICE
Contestants will be judged based on their dedication to Community Service involvement. Factors taken into consideration include: level of dedication, frequency of involvement, leadership (coordination of any service projects), and passion for specific causes or a platform, etc..
3. OPTIONAL PHOTOGENIC
Contestants who choose to submit additional photos for this competition will be judged based on beauty of face and overall photogenic quality.
4. SOCIAL MEDIA AWARD
Contestants will be judged based on the quality and quantity of social media postings of contestants performing community outreach, community service, musical performances, speaking engagements, or promotional videos/photographs which promote the Texas United America Pageants and/or the core values of the Pageant.
5. PUBLIC RELATIONS & AD SALES AWARD
Contestants are encouraged to promote the pageant by reaching out to their communities and bringing awareness to our pageant program, volunteer opportunities, and worthy causes. Contestants are required to sell a minimum of one full page ad at a cost of $125. Contestants may ask local, state, or national businesses to purchase a full page ad which will be included in the Pageant Program Book. Or, contestants may choose to have a group of friends or family post well-wishes on a one-page ad. The contestant who sells the most ad pages will be given this award and the associated prizes.
6. COMMUNITY OUTREACH & TICKET SALES AWARD
Contestants are encouraged to promote the pageant by telling their family, friends, and associates about it, while encouraging them to support the contestant and pageant through attendance. Contestants are required to sell a minimum of six tickets to the pageant competition. The contestant who sells the most tickets will be given this award and the associated prizes.
