Her oldest son, Daryl is a national customer service agent, her son Brice is a computer science major at Frostburg State University and daughter, Chloe, is a double major in Psychology and Criminology at Penn State University.
Carisa’s introduction into the pageant world came through her daughter, Chloe, while she competed in the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Organization. While she only competed for 2 years, she placed first runner up to Miss Maryland’s Outstanding Teen during her first year of competition and went on to be crowned Miss Maryland’s Outstanding Teen 2017. She closed her pageant career finishing second runner up at the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Pageant in 2018.
In the fall of 2018 after becoming an empty-nester, Carisa realized that her healing from her abusive history was not complete and that she wanted to do more. She created “Beyond Ugly: Learning to Thrive after Abuse”. Having once again discovered her voice, she shares her story to help others find healing. She is committed to traveling and speaking to groups of all sizes and backgrounds to educate the community on WHAT defines sexual and domestic abuse, encourage mental and emotional health, commitment to believing in personal definition, self-expression and having goals, never giving up, believing in overcoming circumstances and achieving dreams yet realized. Her title as Ms. East Coast World has continued to open more doors for her to share her story and touch the lives of others. She will compete for the title of Ms. US World in the fall of this year and says she was drawn to the Ms. World Organization because of her personal connection to the national platform, The NOWSA (The National Organization for Women’s Safety Awareness).
Carisa has served as a judge for several local Fairs and Festivals Pageants in West Virginia and works closely with the judges who select the titleholders for the Extraordinary Hearts Pageant to ensure that they understand what is being sought in a titleholder. Her hobbies include attending vintage automotive shows with her boyfriend, Scott; gardening and landscaping; outdoor projects; photography hikes; travel; baking and anything that allows her to touch her community. Her current projects, in addition to supporting the Ms. Extraordinary Heart titleholders include, collecting needed supplies for local Domestic Violence Shelters, creating and distributing Warrior Glam Bags and mask production to help protect her community from the COVID-19 virus, as well as providing meals to the COVID unit staff as often as possible.
