Not to be confused with Miss America, the coveted Miss USA title has been held by beautiful and intelligent women since 1952, and since then, 33 of the 50 states have earned that coveted title. Miss USA is a preliminary pageant to Miss Universe, has had winners go on to become news anchors, reality stars, models, and successes in the fashion industry.
So which state has held the most Miss USA Titles?
"Everything's bigger in Texas," and that is true with their Miss USA crown count. With nine Miss USA titles, Texas has had a clean sweep with winning years in 1977, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1995, 2001 and 2008.
Second is California with six, while third is tied between New York, Hawaii and Illinois who have won Miss USA four times each.
How do the other states hold up?
Michigan, Louisiana, and South Carolina have each held three titles, followed by Maryland, North Carolina, Tennessee, Massachusetts, District of Columbia, Ohio, Virginia, Utah and D.C. (though it's not really a state) holding two.
