How to style weaves is something that is rarely mentioned in pageantry. Weave hairstyles are very common in pageantry among all races but especially among African-American contestants. However, pageantry hair tutorials often stray from weave advice. Read below to find inspiration for some beautiful weave hairstyles for every area of the competition, and don't forget to check out our Prom and Pageant Hairstylists Directory to find a professional who can execute your next look perfectly!
Partial weaves consist of a blend of natural hair and the weave hair. Girls typically leave some hair on the top and on the sides and then the weave is woven into the rest of the hair after the hair has been braided into cornrows. The weave is either sewn or glued into your natural hair.
A full weave is exactly what it sounds like. With a full weave, a girl's hair is completely braided up and the weave is then sewn or glued in throughout the entire head. Any time weave hair is put in, it requires a closure. This is the final top piece you put in to close the hole after all the hair has been sewn into the cornrows or braids. With full weaves, it is harder to cover up their visibility. It usually requires full bangs or swoop bangs to do the trick.

Preteen For evening gown, opt for this youthful and face-framing hairstyle. Use a partial weave for fullness and length, slick the front of your hair to the sides, and have the weave hair texturized to match your natural hair type.
